This is a message for all Followers & Friends of Rachel Gibson and in the dark woods.
I am Steve Gibson, Rachel’s husband, and with the deepest regret I must inform you all that Rachel died suddenly, of heart failure on 24th April. I cannot describe my distress and sense of loss.
I am aware that you admire her work and, if you knew her, also loved and admired her intelligence and wonderful personality.

Two courting seahorses in a marine diorama (which I like to think of as an underwater forest).
The seahorses have been cut from 150gsm Jet Black Canford paper. The seagrass and encircling ferns and shell have been cut from 200gsm white Fabriano eco paper, and the seabed is cut from 300gsm white Bockingford paper.
The papercut sits in a miniature glass bell jar measuring approximately 9cm wide and 12cm high, including feet and top.

Angel Wings A4 papercut
I’m heralding in the New Year with a thing for Spring today (though I’m not really sure we’ve had Winter here yet). I made it as well because I really like Victorian bell jars with little taxidermy oddities in them.
I’ve cut the butterfly from 150gsm Jet Black Canford paper and the flower from 200gsm white Fabriano eco artist paper and 300gsm black recycled card. I’ve then lined the base of the bell jar with embossed vellum paper to finish it off.
Here’s a cute little Krampus shadow puppet and now tree decoration, drawn by Mr Gibson and cut by me, to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and New Year, full of health, happiness and creative adventures.
