Two courting seahorses in a marine diorama (which I like to think of as an underwater forest).
The seahorses have been cut from 150gsm Jet Black Canford paper. The seagrass and encircling ferns and shell have been cut from 200gsm white Fabriano eco paper, and the seabed is cut from 300gsm white Bockingford paper.
The papercut sits in a miniature glass bell jar measuring approximately 9cm wide and 12cm high, including feet and top.
I’ve also just listed this papercut over in my Etsy shop here.
You’ll feel as a modern Neptune when you hold this beautiful bell jar in your hands.
Aw thanks so much, Marcelo. What a fab comment – I should use that in my sales patter!
Hope you’re well & best wishes,
Rachel
Lets hope that it helps to improve your sales. 🙂
Best of luck!
Thank you, Marcelo. Have a great week 🙂
It’s lovely Rachel. I hope you get Valentines Day orders!
Thanks so much, Ashley. Glad you like it 🙂
Best wishes,
Rachel
So wonderful, Rachel! I love to notice that the seahorses look symmetrical but in fact are not! 🙂
Thank you! I know, there’s little differences aren’t there 🙂
(I wish I could cut things perfectly symmetrically though!)
Again, I bow before your skill!
Thank you, Jim!
All the best,
Rachel
Beautiful work as always =)
Thank you, Monette 🙂
Best wishes,
Rachel
Very nice work – If you want to get them perfectly symmetrical you could cut through two layers at once. But the paper you are using may be to thick for this technique?
Thanks Collette, I’m really glad you like it.
Yeah, the paper would be too thick to cut together, but it’s ok, I can live with something very nearly symmetrical 🙂
Rachel, this is seriously beautiful! Your work amazes me.
Wow, thank you so much, Karen! Have a wonderful weekend.
Beautiful! (and your photographs are too)
Thank you John, I’m so glad you think so, and it’s genuinely reassuring to hear from a great photographer that my images are ok. It means a lot as I find photographing my papercuts reeeally hard work.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this piece. Fantastic in every way!
Thanks so much, Elena. I’m really glad you like it x
