Christening papercut commission

It seems to be babies galore at the moment!  As soon as I’d finished a new baby papercut, I was asked to design something for a Christening.

It was a bit of a first for me this because it’s a religious theme (well, it is a Christening) and it includes some Biblical text, which a good friend had to guide me on, since I’m religiously clueless.

I tried the work in progress against a few coloured/textured backgrounds so I could offer some different options, and pink was the paper of choice.

It’s a tapestry patterned paper with a lovely, light reflecting sheen, and I printed the text in a soft grey so it wasn’t too harsh in the background.  I added a small, sunshine-yellow button to the design in the church doorway, then I popped the whole thing together in a shadow box frame.
